Advantages and Disadvantages

Pheromones are natural chemicals produced by a species to attract the opposite sex. Artificially producing these chemicals is a very effective means of reducing the amount of conventional pesticides used on crops around the world. Using pheromones is beneficial when wanting to decrease pests' ability to reproduce by confusing them. Pheromones are a positive alternative to other pesticides because they minimally affect other organisms living in the area that are not being targeted.
